What to Do Right Now
-
Get medical care
Tell the doctor exactly how you were hurt on the job.
-
Report it to your supervisor
Report the injury right away. Waiting can hurt your claim.
-
Photograph the site
The scaffold, ladder, equipment or hazard, before it’s moved or fixed.
-
Get names
Your foreman, the general contractor, other companies on site and witnesses.
-
Keep every record
Medical records, pay stubs and any accident report.
-
Call us early
Job sites change fast, and evidence of other companies’ fault can disappear.
How We Help
A construction injury often involves your employer, a general contractor and several other companies on the same site. From the first call, we:
- Handle your workers’ comp claim: medical treatment and weekly benefits while you recover
- Investigate the job site: who controlled the site, the equipment and the safety plan
- Identify every responsible company: general contractors, subcontractors, property owners and equipment makers
- Check for safety violations: including OSHA fall-protection, scaffold and equipment rules
- Work through the comp lien: so more of a recovery from other companies stays with you
- Negotiate, or go to court: against the companies that caused your injury, not your employer
Common Causes of Construction Accidents
OSHA identifies four leading hazards on construction sites: falls, being struck by objects, being caught in or between, and electrocution. We also see:
-
Falls
Roofs, scaffolds, ladders and unprotected edges
-
Struck by objects
Falling tools and materials, and moving vehicles and equipment
-
Caught in or between
Trench collapses and unguarded machinery
-
Electrocution
Overhead power lines and faulty wiring
-
Defective equipment
Scaffolds, lifts and power tools that fail
-
Unsafe site conditions
Debris, uncovered holes and poor lighting
What You Can Recover
Workers’ comp pays for treatment and part of your wages. A claim against another responsible company can also include:
-
Future medical care
Surgery, therapy and long-term care beyond what comp covers
-
Full lost earnings
All of your lost pay and earning ability, not just part of it
-
Pain and suffering
The physical and emotional toll, which comp doesn’t pay
-
Out-of-pocket costs
Travel to appointments, help at home and other expenses

Construction Accident FAQ
Can I sue my employer after a construction accident?
Usually not. In New Jersey, workers’ compensation is generally the only remedy against your employer. A narrow exception applies only if the employer’s conduct made injury substantially certain, which courts apply strictly.
Who else can be responsible?
Often other companies on the site: the general contractor, other subcontractors, the property owner, or the company that made or rented out defective equipment. A claim against them is separate from workers’ comp.
How much does it cost to hire you?
If we don’t win, you don’t pay a fee.
